Haier HVAC Solutions appoints industry expert Stephen Gill as Head of Industry Insights.

Haier is pleased to announce further expansion of the knowledge base within the European HVAC business. To join their earlier recruitment of well-known personality Graham Hendra, Haier is pleased to have on board industry refrigeration specialist Stephen Gill as Head of Industry Insights.

Stephen Gill founded World Refrigeration Day (WRD), launching it in 2019 with the support of over one hundred trade associations and professional bodies from around the world—including ASHRAE, IIR, AREA, EPEE, and BESA—as well as international agencies such as UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization). WRD was created to raise the profile of the refrigeration, air-conditioning, and heat-pump sector and to highlight the essential role the industry plays in modern life. It has since become a firmly established event in the sector’s global calendar.

With extensive experience across international industry associations and a proven track record in the HVAC&R sector, Stephen will play a key role in representing Haier at a range of industry forums, events, and professional bodies.

“We are extremely excited to have Stephen Gill come on board with Haier and enable him to continue to support the industry,” said Bob Cowlard – CEO – Haier HVAC Europe. “He is an exceptional figure and his reputation as a visionary leader and his deep understanding of the HVAC landscape will be instrumental to our own developments and helping us to give back to the industry”.

He is a highly respected figure in the HVAC&R community, actively engaged with numerous professional organisations and international initiatives. A past President of the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR), he currently serves as Vice President of the ASHRAE UK Chapter, having previously served as its inaugural President. He has also served as a board member of ACRIB (The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board). Stephen has held prominent roles in several technical committees—including those focused on Data Centres, Heat Pumps, and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)—and notably chaired ASHRAE’s principal Refrigeration Committee. His significant contributions to the field have earned him invitations to many leading global industry forums and events to further extend his contributions.

In addition to his leadership within major industry organisations, Stephen is an active member of CIBSE and the Energy Institute (UK). He is also involved with several United Nations-led initiatives, including the UN Cool Coalition and UNEP’s Women in Cooling programme.
